Adamfrench Jake Bugg has encouraged many a teenager to pick up a guitar and write songs. Some of these new up and coming musicians will perform on Wednesday for charity at the Good Ship.  The event, Guiding Light, will raise money for victims of the Syrian civil war via UNICEF.

Particularly worth a listen in advance is soft-voiced Reuben Hestor, here. Also listen out for Mercury Skies, an upbeat indie band in the style of Two Door Cinema Club.  And Adam French, winner of BBC Introducing EP of the Year, who’s a bit like a gravelly voiced Ben Howard, watch his video for Shiver here.  Warning if you haven’t yet made that first album you promised yourself – they are all worryingly young!
