Something a little different for whampdinner this month – a Midsummer Night’s Dream Banquet in the unusual setting of tearoom extraordinaire Bake-a-boo.
As most of you know, Bake-a-boo is famous for its tea and cakes, but as a whampdinner summer special they’re sweeping the flour off the kitchen counter and treating us to a night of gorgeousness. According to Zoe, who owns Bake-a-boo, “Tables will be filled with flowers and everything that represents the magic of summer, so we hope to make it a very enchanted banquet!”
What’s on offer?
Starter: sharing platters of: bruschetta, spanakopita (spinach and feta filo pastry pie), tomato/mozzarella/basil skewers and melon & cured ham
Main course: Choice of either Moroccan chicken with a jewelled warm lentil salad or
Moroccan vegetable skewer (sweet potato, halloumi, courgette, onion, red pepper), with a jewelled warm lentil salad
Both mains come with sides of pita bread & dips
Dessert: sharing platters of: mini pavlovas with summer berries, passion fruit drizzle slices, and gold dusted chocolate truffles
What about drinks?
Bake-a-boo isn’t licenced yet, so it’s bring your own. There’s Vini Vivi wines across the road, or of course bring whatever you want – you can always take it home if you don’t finish it. Bake-a-boo will provide water and jugs of “something fruity” (quiet in the back row).
What’s the deal?
Bake-a-boo is not a restaurant and therefore we have to manage this whampdinner a bit differently. We have 20 places and the cost is £25. If your name is pulled out of the hat (see below) then you will need to transfer the money to me this Monday. If you need to cancel having paid you will be refunded only if we can fill the place.
The meal starts at 8pm and we’ll meet from 7pm for a drink first. To put your name forward, simply drop a mail to moc.e1500648002filda1500648002etspm1500648002ahtse1500648002w@nim1500648002da1500648002 before 5pm on Friday June 20th with your mobile number and which main course you want. We are always oversubscribed so we’ll draw names out of a hat. I will contact you on June 21st to let you know whether you are in or not. I will also mail you my bank details to transfer the money.
