We’re very pleased to inform you about our first planting project in the Nature Reserve – we’ll soon be planting a small group of fruit trees, working in conjunction with The Urban Orchard Project and Helping Britain Blossom. These organisations work in partnership to promote a resurgence of growing fruit in local urban communities around the UK.
We’re planning to plant 15 sapling trees covering a variety of different fruits. This requires digging planting holes about one foot (30 cms) square, to a depth of about a foot (30 cms).
We have a Digging Session planned on Friday 20th February, 11:00AM – 2:00PM, the day before the Planting Day.
We need volunteers to help with the digging that day ! If you could help us with this, we would love to hear from you – please get in touch and let us know. If volunteers can bring their own garden spades and forks, they are most welcome to do so.
We hope you’ll be able to join on the Planting Day. We also need volunteers to welcome visitors and help serve refreshments. If you would like to help, please get in touch ASAP and let us know.
