A market for West Hampstead — 21 Comments

  1. Food would be great and probably most popular/commercial choice.

Flea market might be good as more of a pop up occasional thing ?

Either way it's good news especially in light of recent discussions about increasing footfall and spend on our high street- this is exactly the sort of thing that will bring people and their wallets to WEL.

    • So, you've read the very next post, which announces that a butcher is arriving in May/June? And we have a fishmonger on Broadhurst Gardens open Fridays & Saturday mornings (and office open all week if you want to pre-order).

  2. Food market weekly would be great (and agree on the butcher/fish market comments).

Also think Flea market would be nice as a once a month or something.

  3. i would really like a proper butcher, selling all sorts of mets including giblets and offals, as they have them at the queen park market.

  4. Food would be good – a mixture of relatively affordable things like bread and dairy products with some posher treats mixed in like handmade chocolates. A couple of stalls for gifts would be nice (cards, jewellery, T-shirt etc.), and then as others have suggested this could be extended perhaps once a month, like a mini Greenwich Market. Antiques would be good as an aspect of this but only if they’re cheap.

  5. I would love to see a food market. I agree with the comment above that it would be good to see a mixture of relatively affordable things like bread and dairy products with some higher end deli/more unusual stuff. A focus on organic would be great.

The problem with arts and crafts stalls is that they usually end up looking cheap and tacky.

  6. One more for the food market. Don't like the idea of arts and crafts. The market should serve a practical purpose, a place that local residents visit regularly. I buy FOOD regularly, not arts and crafts!
