Burst pipes, broken communication? — 6 Comments

  1. What were our elected local councillors doing to remedy the issue. I don't think getting the utilities and council to do their job should be left to a Blogger

  2. One more thing to add: Is there any way to stop those stupid idiot drivers who feel the barriers and the ‘road closed’ signs don’t apply to them from moving the barriers and racing down the closed bit of WEL? As this was happening in both directions, it ended in chaos, with cars coming head-to-head on the closed bit of the road with nowhere to go. And the bit of road not dug up was so narrow they had to drive half on the pavement. So in rush hour, you get people spilling out of London Overground faced with vehicles blocking their way. You get signs on the tube side of the road telling pedestrians to cross to the other side – but far from being safe, you take your life in your hands because of the arrogant, inane motorists who don’t think rules have anything to do with them. I reported it to the police – twice.

    • Yes, it's a good point. Plenty of people reported this and although Camden did check where the barriers were, this was a bit late in the day. Seems a shame that we need to have barriers that can't be quickly moved in order to stop idiot drivers but I don't know how else to enforce this.

  3. After my second call to the police, they seemed to bring more barriers and stretch them right across the road. Didn't see any more problems, but then I might just not have been there at the right (wrong?) time.

  4. I’m glad Thames Water were made to re-tarmac the whole stretch of road. I wish this was more common as often they fill in bits here and there which then become potholes after a year or so.

I noticed that Blackburn Road was closed with barriers (as pictured above) and wondered how local businesses and residents were accessing it? Did the VW dealership open their gates so access could be gained from the o2 Centre?
