Were we excited by Mamacita? — 1 Comment

  1. I went in the first week and have to say it was as bad as everyone said it was. I decided to go back last night, to give it a second chance as I love Mexican, and I hoped it was teething problems. Sadly it was almost as bad, clearly learning nothing from the criticisms it received. The menu is still very limited, but workable. Service was terrible, we were left waiting for ages for someone to take our order, we literally had to grab someone walking past and pull them over. They missed off our chips order (which having seen the small handful of chips and dip for £3.50, I was actually quite glad they forgot). Food came out, much quicker than last time and although tasted great was not even lukewarm, and had to chase for a side order that didnt turn up. We were never asked for more drinks once despite them being empty soon after food came. They cleared away plates and they totally ignored us, no dessert menu, no bill. Again we had to chase them down to get the bill. When I refused to pay service (out of principal) the manager had to take it off the bill, instead of coming to ask us what the issue was,to help improve, he just stood at the bar and walked past without saying anything. The only positive I can say is the margaritas are amazing. I am very disappointed, as it has everything there to make it successful, but I will not be giving it a third chance as there are far better restaurants for food and service in West Hampstead.
