The Railway’s musical legacy — 7 Comments

  1. Did not know this! Fascinating – thanks for that. Gives me something else to think about every day I pass that pub other than a pint and a curry for a fiver.

  2. That's really amazing. I wish it was still the olden days, everything was just better then. You'd never get anything good like this happening in West Hampstead now.

  3. Yeah, I lived through all these times. I know the place well. I was always listening to endless recordings and going through the mountains of Decca tape dumped outside. Once I was sat in a cafe drinking a amazing cappuccino, made 100 times better than the best coffee places these days, and before the chains, from an old fashioned Gaggia coffee machine, in 98 next door, and members of the Sex Pistols showed up. In fact, when Railway Moonlight got packed 98 would get packed. That was right up until the 90s. No one butted an eyelid. It was just normal. Good luck with your book. West End Lane is still packed with trend setters. You just wouldn’t know it. That’s Hampstead for you.

  4. I once worked in the moonlight club for Ted was the manager Graham Bacon sometimes did DJ work at the height 78/79 , time of punk newwave , everyone played there from UK subs 999, Wynne County & Electric chairs many mores bands.
