Getting down and dirty on Kilburn High Road — 1 Comment

  1. Good work! But it’s a pity you didn’t get a bit further south down the High Road, where the curtilage issue if anything gets worse. There’s a bad pavement pinchpoint near the bus stop outside Poundland (south of Quex Road), exacerbated by a useless red phone box. (This is the bus stop “where you heard all the most interesting conversations”, wrote Zadie Smith in NW10.)

And just past Sainsbury’s the pavement has sunk for several metres, resulting a vast over-the-shoes puddle in rainy weather. This most definitely is the local authority’s responsibility and, given the footfall here, one would have thought it a higher priority than many of the quiet and expensive residential streets elsewhere in the borough that have been attractively re-paved in recent years.

By the way are you sure that the upkeep of the highway is the local authority’s responsibility? KHR is the A5 and a main trunk road, so I would have thought it was a Dept of Transport responsibility.
